I would recommend starting this process as soon as your school lets you since availability is pretty open early on but can get trickier later on - make sure to take into account where you are planning on studying for dedicated (most likely you’ll want to take your exam in the same place you do dedicated studying).Test center availability can be found at.After receiving your scheduling permit from the USMLE, follow the instructions there to sign up for a testing date.It usually takes a few weeks to get the scheduling permit from the USMLE after you mail them the registration form. ![]() **The USMLE must receive and process this form prior to you receiving the scheduling permit** - this means that you CAN NOT schedule your exam until this entire registration process is completed.Please note that you CAN NOT do a digital version of this form/submission and instead must mail it - this may be altered during COVID so please refer to the most recent instructions from the USMLE for this. Lastly, you have to mail the form to the USMLE. From there, you obtain a stamp from your respective medical school affirming that it is truly you signing up for this exam. Print out a registration form and a picture of yourself which you will have to tape onto the registration form.Register for the exam at (look for a tab on the right).Signing up for the STEP 1 Exam is not as trivial as you might expect.
